This Week’s Prime Tracks
Starting today, I will be writing a weekly post about the latest prime tracks I have been listening to all week. As some of you know, I mostly listen to electronic music, but don’t fret… I’ll include some “normal” musical reviews in here as well. Finding new music is always an interesting and enriching experience, and my hope is that these recommendations will help people find some new music to listen to.
- Eric Prydz Feat. Adeva - In and Out (Eric Prydz mix): Recently Eric Prydz has been one of my favorite producers for house music. He has a very distinct style, full of thick, funky basslines. This latest track has a unique song which made it stand out in my mind. It starts out with a long 3 minute intro which lacks any serious bass, but is full of a strong vocal element provided by Adeva. The vocals peak and in comes the chunkiest damned bassline I have ever heard, which matches perfectly with the vocals in my opinion. I suggest you listen to this one on a good set of speakers or headphones.
- Super 8 - Alba: Here is a classic example of a trance song. I first heard this track on a live Paul Van Dyk set and it was immediately stuck in my head. The main synths used evoke a feeling of calmness and seriousness at the same time and are used throughout the entire track. The part of this track that really pulls it together for me is the short series of bell sounds which are heard after the first build-up. It flows perfectly with the background synths and adds a feeling of completeness and hope to the track. This is trance at its finest, definitely check this one out.
- Tomoyasu Hotei - Battle Without Honour Or Humanity (Ashoka and Marscruiser Mix): What can I say about this monster breakz track? This is a remix of the Kill Bill track played while O-Ren Ishii and her gang are walking down the corridor of that bar. With its groovin’ bassline and samples from the movie, this track is simple baddass. Listen for the sample of a revolver clicking before a gunshot, everytime I listen to this track I wait for it with anticipation.
There are my three choice tracks this week. Feel free to post some feedback or add some recommendations of your own.
