I have just finished watching Napoleon Dynamite and I felt compelled to write a little something about it. For those of you who have never heard of this movie, Napoleon Dynamite is the main character and a super geek. He has an even geekier older brother, an ATV driving grandmother, and a scheming uncle who wants to go back to his football playing days in 1982. Dynamite befriends a new student at school who has recently moved there from Mexico and agrees to help him run for ASB president.

There are a ton of quirky, funny moments in this movie; so if that’s your thing you should definitely rent this. Napoleon’s actions can be so ridiculous and frustrating that you don’t know whether you want to smack him upside the head or just shake your own head in disgust. In fact, you will probably be disgusted with almost every character in this movie, except for maybe Pedro. This is something you rarely find in movies these days, and in that way, it’s almost refreshing.

I’d have to say the coolest part of the movie was when Napoleon hitches a ride with Pedro’s thugged out cousins in the low-rider with hydraulics. Make sure to pay attention to the song playing during that scene… cool track.

Verdict: If you’re looking for a quirky, funny movie then Napoleon Dynamite is highly recommended. On occasion it felt like the movie wasn’t going anywhere, but overall pretty entertaining. I’d give this a 4/5 stars.
