Credit Where Credit is Due
This is just too good to pass up. Ashlee Simpson’s “performance” on Saturday Night Live last night brought comedy to a whole new level; in fact it couldn’t have been funny if it was planned, and in some respects I feel it was.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, take a look at this small clip. Basically Simpson comes out to sing a song, except the vocals and music begin before the band starts to play or she actually starts to sing. Not only that, but the song playing is the song she just “performed” earlier in the show. Apparently there was some sort of screw up and it revealed the fact that she was lip syncing the song. Embarrassed, Simpson walks off the stage leaving her band playing until a commercial break saves the day.
At the end of the show Simpson has the nerve to say that her band accidentally played the wrong song. Oh really, is that what I heard? So you’re saying the band started playing the wrong song with their instruments, and the sound of your voice magically accompanied it? Yeah, you’re probably right…
Remember, this is from the sister of Jessica Simpson, someone known for her intelligence. Stupid comments like these must run in their family or something. “Is this chicken, or is this tuna?” No, it’s not chicken and it’s not tuna, it’s bullshit.
It’s time to stop paying people ridiculous sums of money to pretend to be talented musicians. Maybe if record companies stopped spending money on promoting and paying these hacks and started actually finding real talent they would have something worth buying. Maybe if someone who actually gave a damn about good music did a live performance of something they wrote I would be impressed.
Alas, there is a silver lining in this shit storm called the “music” industry. I can only hope this is the downfall of Ashlee Simpson. The best way to predict the future is to look at the past, and we all remember what happened to Nilli Vanilli after their lip syncing incident.

The band is never wrong… and she will never be right. Oh well… some people will never learn.

I believe Jessica Simpson has real talent, but not Ashlee though. It takes a lot of talent to balance that rack man and that body.
