Amen

Flash Brothers - Amen (Lys & Gigi S extended remix)

This is one of those tracks I have been putting on repeat and listening to since it was released two months ago. I first heard it while listening to a live broadcast of Sander Kleinenberg spinning at Sensation White in Amsterdam (07/03/2004). It was the second to last track played and as soon as I heard it my ears stood up like a dog who hears the mail man coming. After some serious searching and a bit of a wait I was able to find it. Six months later I’m still listening to it and enjoying it just as much as the first time.

Without going into too much detail I’ll try to give a brief description of the track. I’d categorize it as progressive trance. Some of you out there may disagree with that, but you can go fuck yourself because I hate arguing with people over genre categorization. The track’s got a real solid bass line with a funky electronic vibe to it; kind of a retro 80’s feel. Combine that with some great female vocals and simple lyrics and you’ve got it.

I’ve added the lyrics below. I find them strangely sad but uplifting at the same time.

I remember when you said I’m the only one
Here I’m alone
Don’t be afraid

When I close my eyes you’re all I see anymore
Here time has flown
I’m not afraid

amen amen amen [repeated]

If you feel love

Hey guy, nice track!! It has a nice flowing rhythim to it, as well as a almost serene melody. I can see why you are impressed with it. Kudos for finding a track that you like, and then having the fortitude to track it down, no matter what it takes. There are about a dozen songs that I’d like to have in MP3 format (I have them either on LP or Cassette), but I just can’t seem to find them anywhere. Good job!

Glad you enjoyed the track. If you have stuff on LP and cassette that you want to make more portable you should think about hooking up your stereo to your computer and ripping those tracks. The longer you wait, the worse your source material is. You can really clean up a lot of this hiss and pops from the analog stuff, it’s definitely worth it for certain tracks. Good luck!

This is the most amazing song in the world!!! I’ve heard this song once when i went to a club here in Toronto and i fell in love with it. But when ever i d/l this song i can never find the second part to those lyrics its always the first verse repeating itself. But it doesn’t matter, even though the lyrics are sad they are inspiring for some reason.

Justyna: the second part of the lyrics are only found on the Lys & Gigi S extended remix, on the regular Lys & Gigi S remix the lyrics are as you have described. Good luck finding the track.
