Last Supper Club
Since Trevor covered the last night’s clubbing experience pretty well, I’ll just jump right in and talk about some of the things I noticed.
Upon walking inside, Trevor hit it right on the head… I felt like a tourist. It’s always a bit strange going to a place you’ve never been before, and I’ve got to admit I felt a bit out of my element. It was pretty crowded and there was just no good place to stand where you didn’t feel like you were in somebody’s way. After a bit of walking around and checking out the scene we were lucky enough to find a spot back in the corner where we could sit and chat for a bit.
The Lost Boys were playing some chilled back progressive house which really set the mood, giving the atmosphere a down-tempo feel. I had never heard these guys spin before but I was really enjoying their set. Lately I’ve been getting into more relaxing, chilled music and this was right up my alley.
After a bit I noticed they were starting to change DJ equipment around so I suggested we all start moving up so we could get a closer view of the DJ. I love being in the very front when a DJ plays because you really become more involved in the process; you vibe off their energy and get to see exactly what’s going on.

Let me just say that DJ Flave is still as good, if not better, than when I last saw him. Pretty much every track he laid down was funky as hell. I particularly enjoyed the remix he played of “Tainted Love.” The crowd really seemed to love his set too; there was hardly any room to stand, much less dance. Later in his set he started to play some jazzy house. When I say “play,” I mean he actually brought out a saxophone and played it while a beat was going… badass.

The next DJ was Donald Glaude, a local DJ who used to play around here a lot. It was awesome to see him again. Glaude has an amazing ability to reach the crowd and last night was no different. He had a few problems with people dancing on the stage and making the records skip, but he played a great set regardless. After the lights came on and he turned the music off the entire club sang “happy birthday” to him ““ I guess it was his birthday last night. I thought it was a really cool way to end the night.
All in all I’d have to say The Last Supper club is an awesome venue. The people were friendly, the eye candy was abundant, and drinks weren’t too pricey. The sound system in there is pretty decent (my ears are still ringing) and the DJs we saw were all fantastic. Most importantly, I was reminded of why I love house and why I should be going out to see live DJs more often. I will definitely be going back sometime soon.
