Rodrigo y Gabriela at the Showbox

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Another exciting show is coming up soon! Rodrigo y Gabriela are playing at The Showbox April 24th. I will definitely be going! I will be looking for tickets since they are apparently sold out. Please contact me if you have tickets and want to get rid of them.

I sat trying to figure out how to best describe them and the best I can come up with is a mix between Latin rhythms, classical music, and rock. Their covers of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” and Metallica’s “Orion” are worth a listen, but I personally find their own tracks more exciting.

Ratatat at Neumos March 27

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

I’m pretty excited that Ratatat is coming to Seattle soon. Recently I’ve been listening to their self titled CD a lot at work. The songs sometimes sound so simple but they just have a great melody to them.

If anyone is interested they are playing at Neumos on March 27, 2007. Tickets are only $13.

Just to give you an idea of what they are like, here are some videos I found of them playing live.

Club Calendar

turntableClear your schedules for Thursday (10/13) and Saturday (10/15).

Thursday night presents an awesome line-up with NO COVER at the Last Supper Club. Bad Boy Bill and Steve Smooth will both be playing, along with some local DJs (including a favorite of mine, DJ Flave). If you’re in the mood for something funky, this is the place to be.

Saturday night is DJ Flave and G-Cue at Finn McCools. Never heard of G-Cue, but it’s free cover so how can you go wrong?

Any takers?

The Gorge AmphitheaterThe drive to The Gorge started at 2pm, but the excitement started much earlier. I had seen the Dave Matthews Band play a few times before (twice at Portland Meadows and once at The Gorge) but it had been at least 4 years since the last concert. Two days prior to the concert Ryan and I had planned out a timeline for driving and stops for food. We figured we wanted to get there around 5:30.

ATB at Last Supper Club

Sunday, May 8th, 2005

ATB - Movin' Melodies CoverIt’s finally happening… ATB is coming to Seattle. Mark your calendars for Friday May 27th because you’ll be coming with me and Ash to the Last Supper Club.

Although I’ve never seen him live before I’ve been listening to ATB since I bought Movin’ Melodies back in 1999. I clearly remember the first time I heard the CD in my friend’s dorm room. I had just started listening to electronic music and he was letting me listen to some new stuff of his. ATB has a pretty unique sound and I guess that struck me because I went out and bought the CD within the next few days. Needless to say, I’m pretty excited he is coming to Seattle.

Since Movin’ Melodies, ATB has released quite a few CDs. Most of his music is pretty clubby, but it’s always got a good bouncy bassline and is pretty melodic. Interested? Check out his website for videos, discography, etc…

Ash and I already got tickets, $15 each at any ticketswest locations (there’s one in the U-Village QFC). Tickets are $20 at the door, but if you are really interested in seeing him I’d suggest the pre-sale option. It’s a three day weekend, so why not right?

Cannon Beach 2005

Cannon Beach 2005
As you have no doubt already read from everyone’s various blogs, I went on a short vacation to Cannon Beach, Oregon this last weekend. Yeah, I know it’s already Thursday and I got back on Monday… so I extended my vacation a little… wanna fight about it?

This type of trip was actually a first for me. I’ve never been on vacation with so many friends. In the past it has mostly been vacations with family and relatives, and more recently with Ash and one or two friends. Let’s just say that hoteling it with 11 of your closest iFriends certainly had its ups and downs.

Yep Yep Icon

After a four month hiatus, the power couple is back and more powerful than ever before. No longer am I the single man I once was.

How appropriate that this festive news comes just in time for Valentine’s Day. Of course my impeccable timing now requires me to purchase a last minute Valentine’s Day gift… a small price to pay for this second chapter in our relationship.

Why My Friends Suck

Saturday, February 5th, 2005

This entry is being written per Jamie’s request.

So come the end of Thursday night at Jillian’s I thought I had convinced a sizeable group of people to go to the Last Supper Club with me. I was happy with Thursday’s festivities and looked forward to going out Friday night. Friday roles around and David’s the first to go; apparently he lost his voice or some such bullshit Thursday night. My friend who was also going to go decides he’s too lazy to drive down to my place… 2 down. Then Kat tells me she has some other crap to do (that’s three). Sooo, basically it was down to me and Jamie… and Jamie was somewhat on the fence after hearing about all of our lame friends.

iCrew to R Place

What a long day yesterday was. I started the day in a bit of a funk that I just couldn’t seem to shake. Capstone class was a waste of time; I think I would have been much happier with a quick email to sum up everything he was going to say. It did however give my capstone group a few hours to work on our needs assessment stuff before heading down to Washington Mutual for a second meeting to clarify some issues.

Last Supper Club

Friday, December 24th, 2004

Since Trevor covered the last night’s clubbing experience pretty well, I’ll just jump right in and talk about some of the things I noticed.

Upon walking inside, Trevor hit it right on the head… I felt like a tourist. It’s always a bit strange going to a place you’ve never been before, and I’ve got to admit I felt a bit out of my element. It was pretty crowded and there was just no good place to stand where you didn’t feel like you were in somebody’s way. After a bit of walking around and checking out the scene we were lucky enough to find a spot back in the corner where we could sit and chat for a bit.
