Blog Explosion

This year has been the year of the blog. Recently Jamie made the move to Wordpress and runs her site complete with a real web host and a spiffy domain. Other icrew have also started blogging. Trevor has started up again after a long hiatus, while C.A., Avi, and Trotter joined the fun within the past few months.

Let The Classes Begin

UW law building

With school fast approaching a lot of things have been on my mind lately. I am feeling both excited and reluctant to start school again, which is an interesting combination. I’m really looking forward to getting back into the school routine and seeing the INFO crew again. Classes should be somewhat interesting and I’m sure they will provide that challenge that I secretly enjoy.

The Psychology of a Blogger

While writing my weekly track review post last night I thought about the comment system that many blogs use. Just about every blog I have seen is set up so that the blogger writes/publishes a post and then readers can post comments related to that blog post. This ability to have the users post comments not only adds to the content of the blog, but it also creates a blog community. Readers can all communicate to one another and to the author about any given topic.

Pharmaceutical Philosophy

We’ve all seen them, TV commercials advertising prescription and over-the-counter medications designed to cure every sneeze, cough, pain, desire, emotion, hunger, lack of energy, and sleep irregularities. It seems every time I watch TV or check my email I’m being told I may have some disease, irregularity, or condition which should be treated through chemicals.

While I understand companies must turn profits to survive and that there are many medical conditions where medicine is needed for treatment, I’m troubled by the means these companies are using to accomplish their goals.

Web Design + Usability + RSS = OMGWTFBBQ

So today at work I was reading about an RSS extension for Firefox. Basically it formats RSS feeds for you and bookmarks them so they are easily accessible. The one I chose to install and try out is called SAGE.
